In October, police began investigating a possible prostitution ring at two Sarasota High Schools (Venice and Riverview) after four Venice High School students reported that they had been approached about becoming involved. The investigation led to the arrest of two individuals on Friday and another on Tuesday: 17-year old Alexa Nicole De Armas, 21-year old John Michael Mosher, and a 15 year old male who was already in juvenile custody on an unrelated case. No additional arrests are immediately expected.

De Armas is accused of being the “ring leader” who ran her “business” through Facebook. In one private post on Facebook to a business partner, De Armas wrote, “Why pimp out old hoes when I have fresh young hoes I can give up for money? As long as I’m getting paid I’m trafficking all these [expletive removed].” She has been charged with felony human trafficking of a person younger than 18.

De Armas was allegedly running the ring with the 15-year old male. He has also been charged with felony human trafficking. They reportedly split profits with the girls 40/60 and set prices of $50 to $70 for oral sex, and $100 for sexual intercourse with a virgin.

Mosher was identified as one male who took advantage of De Armas’ offering. He paid $40 and a bottle of liquor to have sex with a 15-year old Riverview High School student in August. The girl has stated that the sex was not consensual. He has been arrested and charged with felony sexual battery on a victim older than 12. He is being held at the Sarasota County Jail without bail.
